Linwood Howe PTA
The PTA raises money to support campus-wide activities and unique learning opportunities, provide supplies both in and outside the classroom, and host community building nights for the whole family. The main fundraiser is October's Raise Craze but you are welcome to donate at any time.
What is the PTA?
The Lin Howe Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a unit of the California and National PTA and is made up of parent volunteers and school staff. A PTA's primary goal is to foster collaboration between parents and teachers to support student learning and well-being. Any parent is welcome and encouraged to join.
As a 501(c)3, Lin Howe PTA holds monthly board meetings and fulfills all 501(c)3 requirements such as financial disclosures, meeting minutes, and annual IRS reporting.
What the PTA Funds
Assemblies
Last year, PTA brought 10 amazing performers to campus. From latin folklore and modern dance troops to mad science and hero workshops, PTA brings unique cultural experiences to campus for every grade to see.
Family Fun Nights
Big screen movies in the field, school dances, winter wonderland. PTA hosts several community-building events each year that are open to all students and their families. Don't forget to come join the memories and smiles!
Library
PTA plans and puts on two book fairs every year. These week-long fairs are looked forward to by all students. Even families are welcome to shop after school. The money raised goes directly back to the school library to buy new books that reflect the interests and lives of this year's students.
Equipment & Supplies
Every year, PTA gives money across the campus to restock equipment and supplies that CCUSD budget does not cover. Thanks to last year's Raise Craze donations, this year the PTA was able to give $2,500 for PE equipment, $500 to our new school nurse for supplies, $300 to the front office and $100 to our custodian.
Faculty Appreciation
Every year, PTA welcomes teachers with a back-to-school lunch and ends the year with an appreciation week. At different times in the year, PTA stocks the Faculty Room with treats of appreciation to remind teachers and staff how important they are to us all.
Field Trips
The annual spring field trips are a highlight for every student. For example, last year, first graders went to Eco Station and 2nd grade to the Discovery Cube. PTA makes these days possible by funding transportation and entry fees.
Teacher Reimbursements
Teachers each have different needs for creating the best learning environment and opportunities. PTA reserves a portion of the Raise Craze donations to gift teachers the money to be successful. The PTA also steps up when items are cut from the District budget. Raise Craze enables favorite software and programs to continue existing at Lin Howe. Just recently, the PTA made sure that Mystery Science, a science program loved by many teachers was still offered to Lin Howe teachers, and that Ms. Y in the library got to keep software that allowed students to look up books.
How is the PTA funded?
The PTA has one main fundraiser in October called Raise Craze. Students ask friends and family for donations, and pay their generosity forward by completing Acts of Kindness for others. There are 4 main participation challenges as part of Raise Craze: registrations, emails sent to family and friends, acts of kindness, and amount raised. Classes compete against each other for the Sea Dragon Trophy and other prizes. This year, our goal is $90,000!
Lin Howe PTA also accepts donations year-round and reaches out to local businesses for additional support.
